Job Description

Production

  • Ensure that production goals are met in all areas according to plan and specifications: Key areas are: Quality, Yield, Delta Yield, Productivity, Cost/Stone and Pipe line. Develop KPI report accordingly to share with Plant Management team.
  • Execute short term production plan based on long term production plan as received ICPL department ensuring availability of appropriate manpower, tools/equipment and consumables required for the diamond processing.
  • Works closely with the Quality Control and Grading departments to understand quality issues arising from the production department and to implement policy, practice and processes to eliminate or reduce errors.
  • Plans with her/his team the production, anticipates problems and suggests corrective actions.
  • Implement Laurelton Diamond’s manufacturing practices and philosophy.
  • Maintain a normal production output, quality checking of stones in the areas required.
  • Create and maintain a balanced work flow of stones and head count are met in all areas working closely with ICPL and HR respectively.
  • To develop necessary reports and reporting systems in order to record and save all the production data for productivity / quality/ cost analysis. Use the same data to provide feedbacks to workers about their productivity and to manage various production steps with the aim to ensuring and reporting exactly the section's productivity, production cost as well as quality.
  • Keep record of stock and make purchase plans for the necessary tools, equipment and consumable. Track budget for the Production and reporting any abnormality and developing action plan for the same.
  • To work closely with other support functions in particular HR, Engineering, Purchase departments towards developing effective feedback loop with objective of improving effectiveness.
  • Continuously strive to raise standards of housekeeping in the production area. Support implementation of 6S methodology.

Lead and coach

  • Act as a coach, mentor-motivator of his/her team. This means being actively involved in the performance management process: communicate goals and values, continuously give feedback (both positive and constructive), listen, show empathy, organize corrective actions and training, assess performance in an objective way.
  • Participate in the selection of supervisors and work cell supervisors for the plant
  • Provide input as necessary for the performance management of supervisors in the production environment
  • Coach and set plans to manage and improve performance.
  • Communicate individual and team goals and values.
  • Give clear assignment and follow up.

Training

  • Coordinate with Regional Production Manager in implementation of training , multiskilling and capability development program across all levels in production as per the relevant training plan (primarily covering Diamond technical training) formalized by the former
  • Intensively work with his/her team: Supervisors/trainers, achieving training goals in all production areas: Preparation, Blocking, Bruting, Top, Bottom, Table and Star polishing as per training plan prepared by Regional Production Manager
  • Refer to procedures and training programs at all the times and work closely with Regional Production Manager to ensure any revision and updates if required due to process changes or proposed process improvements
  • Ensure proper allocation of trainees to work cells  thereby maintaining balance within work cells
  • Ensure production department follows trainings as per the plant training calendar

Communication and Liaison

  • Be an active participant in the production team.
  • Be the communication liaison between the team, colleagues and management.  As a production team member, you point out quality / (production issues), attend meetings, make suggestions to improve
  • Liaise actively with inventory control with regards to the logistics planning of the factory, making sure that production is balanced and shipment schedules are adhered to
  • Liaise actively with Quality assurance making sure quality standards are met.
  • Liaise with the workshop making sure equipment issues are communicated.
  • Communicate to Regional Production Manager/Quality Manager/Laurelton Antwerp (if required), making sure estimates discrepancies are discussed.

Security

  • Adheres to security procedures at all times and set the example for her/his team to follow polishers/trainees.

Safety

  • Ensure production team maintains a safe attitude at work and behave in safe manner to prevent accidents and injuries. Ensure production team strictly adhere to all safe operating procedures as described in policies/procedures and through safety training program.

Job Requirement

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor Degree in Engineering or other related fields
  • 10+ years of production management operations in middle or senior management role handling team of supervisors and workers
  • Good understanding of flow of production processes and workign with support teams like Quality, Finance, HR, IT , Admin etc.
  • Excellent team work and communication skills.
  • Good spoken English and basic english writing ability.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Previous experience with performance management
  • Good statistical/analytical skills
  • Practical experience with MS Office
